Indus International Community
School (IICS) celebrated “Santhasa” a cultural extravaganza on 26th
January 2013.
IICS is an equal opportunity
school for underprivileged children. It provides high quality education through
facilities and practices which are on par with international schools. It
empowers students through leadership development, proficiency in English and technology.
IICS has a Wi – Fi campus, with one laptop per child. The emphasis through
holistic education is on sports such as horse riding, golf, swimming &
karate. Mentorship in career planning
and placement assistance in the future are a strong feature of our plan.
Indus International School
Bangalore (IISB) believes in the concept of “Servant Leadership” and these students
initiate & actively participate in community service. The objective of the
fund raiser “Santhasa” is to create awareness about the rich culture and
traditions of Karnataka. Students from IISB have conceptualized, planned and
organized this cultural festival for students of IICS. The execution of this
philosophy is realized through the House Visions and Community Service ideals.
Community Service projects at IISB, nurture leadership
skills by stimulation of both the left and right brain. These projects sensitize
students and make them aware of local needs, which in turn attune them to
global issues. Students develop an understanding and awareness about the local
culture through events such as this Habba, which is an essential aspect of
becoming a global citizen.
Principles of the Indus Trust emphasize:
·
Providing equal opportunities to the
underprivileged
·
Integration of students of Indus International
School, Bangalore & Indus International Community School
·
Servant Leadership – leadership through service
·
Think Global Act Local – Localism is a pre-
requisite for globalism
The Habba commenced with the
flag hoisting ceremony for Republic Day followed by spectacular dance
performances by the students of IICS and local artists. The “Habba Mela”was a
lively affair with a variety of exciting competitions, games & food stalls.
The programme ended with an entertaining puppet show and a thrilling fire
dance.
